The general strategy for the project is to enable parallel studies of cause of disease (including molecular mechanisms and genetic studies), of identification of potential targets of disease, and of validation of targeted therapies. As several different targets are already in various phases of investigation, all parts of the network will be active in the research from the beginning of the project. While the full investigation of certain molecular mechanisms and candidate genes will require much development in the early workpackages before the later ones can be of use, other projects will immediately begin using the “later” workpackages. For this reason, we have chosen to start all the workpackages at the beginning of the project, as is seen also from the WP summary sheet.
