Institute of Rheumatology - Poland

Institute of Rheumatology , Warsaw , Poland , is a largest in Poland institution dedicated to study and treat rheumatic diseases. It is a 250-bed clinical hospital, with diagnostic laboratories and several research Departments including Department of Pathophysiology and Immunology headed by prof. Wlodzimierz Maslinski. Currently he is also acting as a Scientific Director of the Institute. Research is focused on the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis - the role of proinflammatory cytokines and their network. Another direction is the analysis laboratory parameters changes (including cytokines) as a measure to predict the long term effects of biological therapies.
