Autocure

University clinic Charité at the Humboldt University Berlin, and German Rheumatism Research Centre Berlin,

These partners have extensive experimental and clinical experience in the development of new targeted therapies in rheumatology and other autoimmune diseases and integrate the expertise of Professor Gerd Burmester ( Charité , Berlin ) and Professor Andreas Radbruch (German Rheumatism Research Centre) into the Autocure consortium. Gerd Burmester has been involved in developing current major hypotheses concerning the pathogenesis of arthritis and has contributed to the development of several targeted therapies. Andreas Radbuch is a leading expert in basic immunology, autoimmunity research and cytometric cell sorting technologies. Together they will integrate cytometry, cell sorting, expression profiling and bioinformatics into the Autocure consortium leading to the identification of mechanisms initiating and perpetuating autoimmune disease, and the identification and validation of new targets.

The Partners developed extensive expertise as members of the German National Genome Research Network (NGFN) in particular with respect to: expression profiling of highly purified cells, analysis of complex expression profiles by comparison with systematically established data on transcriptome signatures of various immune cells, tissue cells and whole tissues in normal donors, patients with joint diseases and initial studies on targeted therapies.

Training activities will integrate these technologies into the Autocure consortium and will disseminate them into the network.
