Bo Ding, Ph.D., a senior researcher at the Institute of Environmental
Medicine at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm was one of the Abstract
Award Winners at the EULAR congress. He received an award for basic science
research in recognition of his work on genetic risk factors for rheumatoid
arthritis. Bo Ding analysed 2,221 SNPs. For ACPA (antibodies to citrullinated
protein antigens)-positive RA, they analysed samples from both Swedish
and North American cohorts, and for ACPA-negative RA they used samples
from the Swedish cohort. The investigators found that HLA-DPB1 and C2-DOM3Z
loci are independent risk loci for ACPA-positive RA.There was no evidence
that the MHC region contributes to ACPA-negative RA. |
