International call for a partnership with an SME in research
on
autoimmunity (Life Sciences).
The Karolinska Institute (Sweden) is the Coordinator of
the integrated research project Autocure financed by the European Commission.
We have a vacancy in our consortium for an SME partner (a small or medium
sized enterprise) established in a Member State of the EU or in a state
associated with the 6th Framework Programme. This SME should have comprehensive
expertise for the following research programme:
1) Discovery of new CD4+ T cell epitopes in the area of rheumatoid arthritis
and otherrheumatoid inflammatory autoimmune diseases including correct
identification of theirallelic restriction, especially by means of Class
II MHC-peptide binding assays thatcover a significant part of the wider
population.
2) Design of HLA Class II multimers based on existing and newly discovered
epitopesfrom the project for detection, analysis, and monitoring of effector
and regulatory T cells specific for rheumatoid diseases.

with the regulations of the EC 6th Framework Programme. Information on

RESEARCH TECHNICIAN (2 POSTS)
Applications are invited to join an active, well-funded and internationally
recognised (RAE 5*) Research Group, based in the MRC Centre for Immune
Regulation and occupying well-equipped new laboratories within the Institute
of Biomedical Sciences. We are looking for two enthusiastic, highly motivated
individuals capable of providing high quality work in a programme of work
sponsored by the Arthritis Research Campaign (Post 1) and the European
Union (AutoCure; Integrated Programme) (Post 2) see Trends Immunology

The successful candidates should have a minimum of a HND in a biological
subject and previous experience working in laboratory-based research would
be an advantage. The post holders should preferably have a good understanding
of cell biology and some knowledge of immunology.

Starting salary in the range of £14,408 to £16,118 a year
(potential progression on performance once in post to £18,051 a
year). Plus additional 10% of salary for new staff or pension for existing
Scheme members. Post 1 is available from September 2006 until 30 September
2010. Post 2 is available until 31/08/07 in the first instance, (but consistent
with EU funding rules is likely to be renewed annually until February
2011).
